Putri Kencono Cave Wonogiri, a Beautiful Cave with Mystery and History

JJS Jateng Gayeng, WONOGIRI - Pracimantoro is one of the areas in Wonogiri Regency that has natural tourism potential in the form of a number of caves. One of them is Putri Kencana Cave located in Wonodadi Village, Pracimantoro. The name Putri Kencana for the cave has its own story. The people around the cave believe that the cave, which is located on one of the hills not far from the village head's office, is the residence of a princess named Putri Kencana.

According to the guardian of the cave, Darmadi, the name Putri Kencana Cave was established on January 22, 1991. The naming was agreed upon by a number of community leaders and local elders.

Pracimantoro, Putri Kencono Cave is one of the Putri Kencana Caves, one of the many caves in the Gunung Sewu Karst area that not only has educational appeal but is also accompanied by historical myths. It is located in Wonodadi Village, Pracimantoro Subdistrict or 45 KM south of Wonogiri City. To get to the location can be reached by four-wheeled vehicles with adequate road infrastructure.

Putri Kencono Cave is included in the karst area of Mount Sewu by presenting the beauty of stalactites and stalagmites in it. According to history, Putri Kencono Cave was first discovered in 1991 by a latitude stone seeker from Wonodadi Hamlet.

This cave has a length of approximately 121 meters with a width of about 4 meters and a height of 4 meters. Inside it is divided into 7 rooms, each of which is given its own name as follows:
- Living Room. It is the outermost cave and is said to be used as a guest room by Putri Kencana Wungu. She was a princess from the Majapahit kingdom who wandered to this area.
- Culture Room. A cave room in which there is after the Living Room which was used as a place of contact and mystical activities.
- Library Room. It is a cave room that is often used by Putri Kencana Wungu and royal relatives chatting, because here there is a spring named Sendang Pangupasan. It is said that for anyone who can see or touch this magical spring means that the person is really still holy.
- Jumenengan Room. The Jumenengan room is widely used for semadi Putri Kencana Wungu to seek guidance from the Creator.
- Sarasehan Room. A room in the cave that is used as a meeting place to discuss royal matters.
- Panyuwunan Room. It is a room where Princess Kencana Wungu performs rituals / panyuwunan.
- Family Room. A room in the cave used to unwind with the royal family.
